About the Mission
On November 1, 1922, nearly two dozen churches came together with one unified goal: to provide food, shelter and hope to our Northland neighbors in need. The Mission has been on this mission now for over 100 years. While our goals haven’t changed, the way we go about achieving them has.
Today, we build partnerships and community relationships because we know we are stronger together. We fill gaps so no one falls through them. And we serve our guests in a way that preserves pride and inspires belief in a better tomorrow. Because shelter fills a need, and food fills stomachs — but hope fills the soul.
Food. Shelter. Hope.
Our Supportive Services and Resources
We provide food. We offer shelter. But that’s far from all. We also offer our community a host of additional supportive resources, from complimentary clothing, to household necessities, to personal hygiene essentials. Additionally, the Mission serves as a drop-in center each weekday, allowing guests the opportunity to access a bathroom, select free grocery items, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee out of the elements.
DROP-IN CENTER HOURS:
Monday through Thursday | 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Friday | 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Additionally, we are proud to offer an onsite Outreach Coordinator, who provides a person-centered, welcoming approach to encourage and assist our guests in engaging with care coordination services. This free, professional assistance aids guests in accessing local programming and resources on an as-needed basis.

Support Our Mission
We are driven by a belief that everyone deserves food, shelter, and hope. We know that these fundamental supports give our guests the strength and belief needed to move toward a better tomorrow. We will not rest until every guest is rested, restored, and ready to realize their goals. If you share our belief and want to support our mission, please consider volunteering or making a donation to the Union Gospel Mission.

Statement of Faith
We believe in the triune God: God the Creator; God the Christ; and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ lived on earth, died, and was resurrected.
We believe that the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus Christ are communicated to us through the Gospels of the Holy Bible and that we are directed to live in accordance with the teachings of Jesus.
We believe that all persons are created by God and, as such, are worthy of care and respect.
We believe that Jesus directed us to live in love and service to one another, especially those who are hurting and in need and those who society tends to reject, and it is in that spirit that the Union Gospel Mission Duluth serves as a Christian ministry.
